Last March, at the end of winter, when my team and I were looking for a venue for this presentation, we fell in love with Port de l'Arsenal, where no fashion show had ever taken place before. The proximity of the water, the still cool air in those first days of spring, made us think of jetties all over the world where people cross paths. Some dock, others embark, waiting for loved ones or preparing to leave them...
Ports, quays, and stations are places where everyone rushes towards their destiny. I love finding a nearby table, ordering a coffee, and watching all the comings and goings, imagining trajectories, deciphering attitudes, analyzing silhouettes... In this sense, Port de l'Arsenal seemed to me the ideal setting to present a collection geared towards brighter days, elegant and casual, generous and light. At no point could I have imagined such a heatwave.
Spring-summers are increasingly complex seasons. In six months, we go from one extreme to the other in terms of temperatures and needs. Furthermore, I want to present a complete wardrobe to you, showcasing only commercialized garments. Thus, this new collection does not sacrifice that rule. It includes formal pieces, tailored from beautiful draperies, crisp poplins, denims, knits, and quality leathers.
I like to create collections that dress everyday life, ordinary moments as well as special occasions. In this heat, I might have been tempted to hastily recut the sleeves of jackets and shirts, to shorten all the trousers into shorts to fit in with the current trend. But that would not have been a reflection of Officine Générale, which strives to offer designs for all times of a season.
